Softball Recap: Fisher Catholic Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Fisher Catholic came out on top against Miller on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Irish blew past the Falcons 16-0. The Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.

Lauren Kersell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Mallory Stanton was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucy Watkins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Fisher Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Fisher Catholic's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Miller, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fisher Catholic will square off against Bishop Rosecrans at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Miller, they will take on Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
