Baseball Game Preview: Monta Vista Matadors vs. Cupertino Pioneers

Monta Vista hasn't had much luck against Cupertino recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Monta Vista Matadors will take on the Cupertino Pioneers at 4:00 p.m.

Monta Vista came up short against Santa Clara on Tuesday, falling 11-4. The loss was the Matadors' first of the season.

Kaito Miyanouchi Porter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two triples and one run. Another player making a difference was Avyan Mahajan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Cupertino made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lynbrook on Tuesday. Cupertino put the hurt on Lynbrook with a sharp 21-4 victory. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Having lost for the first time this season, Monta Vista fell to 3-1. As for Cupertino, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3-1.

Monta Vista couldn't quite get it done against Cupertino when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can Monta Vista avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
