Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Crater

Crater waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Ashland Grizzlies by a score of 12-7. That's more bragging rights for the Comets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ally Nottingham was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ady Thayer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Espn Ostroskie also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Crater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Crater's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Ashland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Crater will square off against South Medford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ashland will be paying especially close attention to the Comets' game: after the Comets face off against the Panthers, they'll take on Ashland again at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
