Softball Recap: Minerva Comes Up Short

Minerva was the 3-0 winner over Alliance when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aviators on Thursday. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Minerva saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Essick, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Mackenzie French also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Minerva has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Alliance, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Minerva has already played their next matchup (against Rittman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Alliance, they will be playing at home against United at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
