Basketball Recap: Philo Takes a Loss

After soaring to 69 points the game before, Philo was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a blow against the Maysville Panthers, falling 66-25. While losing is never fun, the Electrics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 510th, while the Panthers are ranked 63rd).

Leading Maysville to victory were Jordyn Watson and Gator Nichols. Watson went 7-for-13 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists, while Nichols went 6-for-11 to rack up 18 points. Nichols' evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Ferguson, who posted eight points and three steals.

Philo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Maysville, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Philo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maysville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-50 win against West Holmes on the 15th.
