Volleyball Recap: Hurley Comes Up Short

Hurley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Southwest Trojans, falling 3-0. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-18, 25-15.

Southwest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Hnem, who had 13 digs and five aces. That's the most aces Hnem has posted since back in September. Abi Hnem was another key player, getting nine digs and three aces.

Hurley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Southwest, they pushed their record up to 11-16-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Hurley has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Galena on the 14th. As for Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against McDonald County on the 14th.
