Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks vs. Cardinal Newman Crusaders

The Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks will square off against the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Archbishop McCarthy came up short against Miami Country Day and fell 83-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (68), the Mavericks still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman's game on Wednesday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Vero Beach by a score of 58-55.

Archbishop McCarthy will need focus on slowing down L.T. Noegel, one of several Cardinal Newman players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ben Lakin, who put up 13 points.

Cardinal Newman now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Archbishop McCarthy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
