Softball Game Preview: San Marcos Royals vs. San Luis Obispo Tigers

The San Marcos Royals will head out to take on the San Luis Obispo Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

San Marcos is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since February 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Cabrillo by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Royals couldn't push the score so high this time.

San Marcos saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Solana Sandoval, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

San Luis Obispo played against Santa Maria on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

The win (which was San Luis Obispo's third in a row) raised their record to 13-9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for San Marcos, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

San Marcos was able to grind out a solid win over San Luis Obispo when the teams last played back in March of 2016, winning 9-4. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
