Cheshire Academy put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Loomis Chaffee School Pelicans with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Cats have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Dan Margolies tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alex Modica was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. Conner Crosbie was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Cheshire Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Cheshire Academy pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Loomis Chaffee School, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Cheshire Academy and Loomis Chaffee School will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Cheshire Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Berkshire School at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Loomis Chaffee School will square off against rival Choate Rosemary Hall School at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
