Softball Recap: Pikeview Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

PikeView had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Greenbrier East Spartans on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won four games in a row.

Shelby Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Weiss was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Emma Compton was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.

PikeView's victory bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Greenbrier East, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-13.

PikeView will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on George Washington at 6:30 p.m. on the 28th. Greenbrier East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
