Baseball Game Preview: Miyamura Patriots vs. Highland Hornets

The Miyamura Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Highland Hornets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Miyamura will be strutting in after a victory while Highland will be coming in after a loss.

Miyamura's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Navajo Prep with a sharp 34-0 win. The Patriots have beaten the Eagles the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Xavier Brown was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Seth Torres was incredible, going a perfect 6-for-6 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. Brady Antonio was another key player, scoring six runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Miyamura always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .648. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Highland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Manzano, falling 24-8.

Miyamura's record now sits at 2-0. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
