Catawba Ridge came tearing into Friday's game with 13 straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the St. John's Islanders 8-1. Eight seems to be a good number for the Copperheads as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Catawba Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Catawba Ridge will challenge Lewisville at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. John's will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Charleston Math & Science at 5:30 p.m. on March 18th.
