Baseball Recap: Warsaw Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Bend Adams, Warsaw was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Mishawaka Cavemen. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Cavemen recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Warsaw got a great performance from Mason O'Malley as he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. O'Malley has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Quinton Brock, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Warsaw is 2-1 when Brock posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Jack Bradford was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Warsaw's record is now 4-9. As for Mishawaka, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warsaw will square off against Wawasee at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.45 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mishawaka, they will challenge Plymouth at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
