Basketball Game Preview: Burncoat Patriots vs. South Colonels

Burncoat is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while South is on a ten-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Burncoat Patriots will host the South Colonels at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Burncoat knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully South likes a good challenge.

Burncoat will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating North, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Burncoat came out on top against North by a score of 66-53 on Tuesday. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Polar Bears are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Burncoat's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Dunn, who posted 22 points. The dominant performance gave Dunn a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Johnston, who scored 16 points.

Meanwhile, South was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past St. Paul 53-25. The 53-point effort marked the Colonels' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

South's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Burncoat, they have also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
