Basketball Recap: East Central Takes a Loss

East Central lost against George County on November 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The game between the Hornets and the Rebels didn't end well, with the Hornets falling 69-55. The Hornets were down 51-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, East Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anthony Bonfiglio shot 54% from the field on his way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Brody Howard, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds.

East Central now has a losing record of 3-4. As for George County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Central will challenge Robertsdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets will be up against the Golden Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for George County, they will square off against Sacred Heart at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
