The Haldane Blue Devils will square off against the Brewster Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Brewster took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Haldane, who comes in off a win.
On Friday, Haldane was able to grind out a solid win over Woodlands, taking the game 3-1. That two set margin sets a new team best for the Blue Devils this season.
While Haldane might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Woodlands scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 25-20.
Savannah Duggan was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 17 digs.
Meanwhile, Brewster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ardsley. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-20 in the first set.
Brewster started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21.
Brewster's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Haldane, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.
