Recap: Roaring Fork Rams vs. Olathe Pirates
The Roaring Fork Rams's game on Friday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Olathe 53-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Roaring Fork in their matchups with Olathe: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Bevington, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikki Tardif, who scored nine points.
Olathe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyra Gray led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Gray has scored at least a third of Olathe's points. Kiandra Liles was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Roaring Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Olathe, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roaring Fork on the road again on Saturday and play against Gunnison at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Sienna Gomez and Carly Crownhart. As for Olathe, they will head out on the road to square off against Aspen at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Aspen is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
