Basketball Recap: Thatcher Comes Up Short

Thatcher was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 58-36 to the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Lions are ranked 32nd).

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Johnson, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Nicole NJoroge was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 13 points.

Thatcher's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thatcher will head out to face off against Palo Verde at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Coolidge at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
