Baseball Recap: Giles Spartans vs. Galax Maroon Tide
After low-scoring totals in their previous five contests, Giles brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Galax Maroon Tide on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Maroon Tide recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Brady Thwaites made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Thwaites was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josiah Schlueter, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tanner Pearman, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
