After losing to Sullivan the last time they met, Martinsville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Artesians put the hurt on the Golden Arrows with a sharp  17-6 win on Saturday. With that  victory, the Artesians brought their scoring average up to 7.6  runs per game.
Martinsville got a great performance from  Destiny Forler as she  pitched five innings while giving up just two earned  (and four unearned) runs off   four  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Ahvay Scholl and  Nevada Plummer did most of the damage at the plate:  Scholl  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, three  runs,  and three  RBI, while  Plummer  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, four  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  two  hits gave  Plummer a new career-high.  Mackenzie Williams also deserves some recognition as  she  scored her first  runs of the season.
 Martinsville  lost a few balls and  finished the game with four  home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sullivan only  launched one  home run.
The  win made it two in a row for Martinsville and  bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Sullivan,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 4-2.
 Martinsville is on the road again  on Saturday to play West Vigo at 11:00  a.m. The Vikings will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  win, something the Artesians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sullivan, they will head out to  take on Mooresville  at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Pioneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.6  runs per game on average), something the Golden Arrows will no doubt try to take advantage of.
