Baseball Recap: Monterey Comes Up Short

Monterey scored first but ultimately less than Odessa in their match on Friday. They fell 8-5 to the Odessa Bronchos. The Plainsmen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bronchos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Brent Sanders was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). RJ Laurent also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Monterey has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-8-1 record this season. Odessa now has a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Monterey will venture away from home to face off against Eastwood at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Odessa, they will square off against Memorial at 12:15 p.m. on Friday.
