Basketball Game Preview: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Lawndale Cardinals

The Leuzinger Olympians will face off against the Lawndale Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Leuzinger will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Last Wednesday, Leuzinger didn't have too much trouble with Santa Monica as they won 52-37. Given the Olympians' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Vikings are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Lawndale's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. The contest between them and Culver City didn't end well, with Lawndale falling 76-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (57), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Leuzinger pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Lawndale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6.

Leuzinger beat Lawndale 67-54 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will Leuzinger repeat their success, or does Lawndale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
