Baseball Recap: Tri-Township Tigers vs. Hebron Hawks
Tri-Township had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-11 to make it six. They lost 7-1 to the Hebron Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 back in April.
Cody Vernich put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Hebron, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
