Softball Recap: Auburn Starts Season with Victory Against Galax

Auburn gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Galax Maroon Tide. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Samantha Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hope Wilson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Auburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galax only posted an OBP of .062.

Galax's loss dropped their record down to 1-2.

Auburn didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-5 defeat against Jefferson Forest on the 22nd. As for Galax, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Giles at 5:00 p.m. on April 1.
