Softball Game Preview: West Carroll War Eagles vs. Middleton Tigers

West Carroll has gone a perfect 4-0 against Middleton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The War Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. West Carroll comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

West Carroll lost 21-5 to Clarksburg on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the War Eagles have lost by exactly 16 runs.

Meanwhile, Middleton got the win against Jackson North Side on Thursday by a conclusive 15-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Middleton let Abygayle Fernandez and Destiny Berry run wild. Fernandez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs, while Berry got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those runs marked the first that Fernandez has scored this season. Mallorie Bryson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Middleton's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Carroll has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Middleton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 17 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went West Carroll's way against Middleton when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as West Carroll made off with a 12-1 win. Will the War Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
