Basketball Recap: Livingston Comes Up Short

Livingston lost against Hamshire-Fannett back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Livingston Lions fell 49-37 to the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 932nd, while the Longhorns are ranked 393rd).

Hamshire-Fannett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Olivia Moore, who went 8 of 19 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Moore also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reese Speight, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Livingston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for Hamshire-Fannett, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-8.

Livingston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-36 defeat against Liberty on the 20th. Hamshire-Fannett has also already played their next game, a 60-39 loss against Hardin-Jefferson on the 20th.
