Softball Game Preview: Athens Drive Jaguars vs. Green Hope Falcons

Athens Drive is 2-8 against Green Hope since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Athens Drive Jaguars are taking a road trip to square off against the Green Hope Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Athens Drive is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Millbrook.

Cora Driscoll was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Margaret Williamson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Athens Drive was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Green Hope's offense. They came up short against Fuquay - Varina on Wednesday, falling 16-0. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Green Hope saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ainsley Campbell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Athens Drive's record is now 0-2. As for Green Hope, their record now sits at an identical 0-2.

Athens Drive beat Green Hope 7-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Athens Drive since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
