Baseball Recap: Hilltop Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cardinal Stritch on Monday, Hilltop came back down to earth. The Cadets lost 19-5 to the Evergreen Vikings on Friday. The Cadets have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Terry Rebeck made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Hilltop: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise.

Hilltop's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Evergreen, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilltop will challenge Northwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cadets are facing the Rangers at the right time seeing as the Rangers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Evergreen, they will head out on the road to take on Napoleon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
