Softball Recap: Olympic Comes Up Short

Olympic fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Central Kitsap on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-5. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jules Richmond spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olympic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Gordon, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Olympic's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8. As for Central Kitsap, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3.

Coming up, Olympic will take on North Mason at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Central Kitsap does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
