Baseball Recap: River Dell Takes a Loss

River Dell extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northern Highlands Highlanders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Hawks of the 7-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Nathan Silverstein and David Nunez did some serious damage despite the final result: Silverstein went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Nunez went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Milo Tarascio was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Northern Highlands, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-5 record. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

On Northern Highlands' side, they got a massive performance out of Charlie Goebbert, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave Goebbert a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stephen Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, River Dell will head out on the road to challenge Ramsey at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Northern Highlands, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ramapo at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Highlanders 4.1, the Raiders 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
