Volleyball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Brownsboro Bears

Athens is 0-10 against Brownsboro since October of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Hornets will head out to take on the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Athens will be strutting in after a win while Brownsboro will be coming in after a loss.

Athens will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Mabank, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hornets walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

The win didn't come easy: Mabank scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Brownsboro came up short against Canton on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Brownsboro started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.

Brownsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 13-23. As for Athens, their victory bumped their record up to 14-18.

Athens couldn't quite get it done against Brownsboro in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
