Columbus City - South recap October 1, 2013
Independence scaled the state rankings by moving to 310 from 370 this week, the biggest jump in Columbus City - South. The 76ers climbed the ranks as a result of beating South 66-6.
DeAnte' Townsend provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Independence defeated the Bulldogs. Townsend's key target this week was Amadou Ndongo, who caught 2 passes for 36 yards.
Townsend was a beast in the backfield as Maurice Douglas' team defeated South.
Omar Alfred was the best wideout in the league this week as Marion-Franklin topped Walnut Ridge. Alfred tallied 5 receptions for 52 yards. Michael Winfrey helped Marion-Franklin's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 19 yards.
On the heels of Anthony Bange and Ronnie Kuipers, the 76ers have had great success on offense. Bange is tops in the league in passing with 501 yards, while Kuipers has rushed for 725 yards this season. The Red Devils' Alfred leads the league in receiving yards with 219 on 14 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when West takes on the Scots. At the moment, the Cowboys are in fourth, while Walnut Ridge is in second.
Independence led Columbus City - South in scoring this week after putting up 66 points on the Bulldogs. Townsend ran for 247 yards during the win.
