Volleyball Game Preview: Academy of the Sacred Heart Cardinals vs. Newman Greenies

Academy of the Sacred Heart is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, they and the Newman Greenies will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Academy of the Sacred Heart didn't have quite enough to beat Haynes Academy and fell 3-2.

Academy of the Sacred Heart took Haynes Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 19-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Newman made easy work of Lakeshore on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greenies.

Academy of the Sacred Heart's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Newman, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Academy of the Sacred Heart couldn't quite get it done against Newman in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
