Basketball Game Preview: Palm Beach Gardens Gators vs. Westwood Longhorns

The Palm Beach Gardens Gators and the Westwood Longhorns will round out the year against one another at at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Palm Beach Gardens came up short against Central and fell 74-62. The Gators have struggled against the Cobras recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sam Thomas, who posted eight points and 13 boards. Montray Coley was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Palm Beach Gardens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Westwood fought the good fight in their overtime game against Hilton Head Island on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 76-66 to the Seahawks. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), the Longhorns still had to take the loss.

This is the second loss in a row for Westwood and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Palm Beach Gardens, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
