Fans were treated to a battle of the Bears on Friday. Hatch Valley fell 48-43 to Cloudcroft. On the bright side, the 43- point effort marked Hatch Valley's highest-scoring matchup to date.

Despite the loss, Hatch Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cylee Roberts dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Roberts is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Caydence Roberts was another key player, putting up six points along with ten rebounds and five steals.

Hatch Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Cloudcroft, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Hatch Valley has already played their next game, a 60-30 loss against Lordsburg on the 13th. As for Cloudcroft, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-23 defeat against Cliff on the 13th.
