Softball Game Preview: Gateway Panthers vs. Jones Fightin' Tigers

For the first time this season, Gateway will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Jones Fightin' Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Gateway lost 13-3 to Celebration on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Storm: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Jones fell victim to Ocoee and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 18-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Fightin' Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Jones' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Gateway, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Gateway took their victory against Jones in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 7-0. Does Gateway have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jones turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
