Softball Recap: Athens' Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Athens fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Meigs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Marauders by a score of 11-10. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Meigs, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Athens will face off against rival Wellston at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Meigs is set to challenge their familiar foe Vinton County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
