Soccer Game Preview: Midway vs. Bryan

The Midway Panthers will face off against the Bryan Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bryan will be up against a hot Midway squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Midway's defense stepped up to hand Killeen an 8-0 shutout on Friday. Give the Panthers' defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Killeen from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Sarah Brown led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Bryan got the win against Temple on Friday by a conclusive 5-0. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 492nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bryan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those nine games. Midway's victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
