Baseball Recap: Menahga Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Menahga hadn't done well against Wadena-Deer Creek recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Braves came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 9-5. The game was the first time the Braves have beaten the Wolverines on their field since April 22, 2019.

Brad Pietila was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Pietila was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and one run.

In other batting news, Creed Koll was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI. Fordyce Johnson was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

Menahga pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Wadena-Deer Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Menahga will venture away from home to square off against Frazee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wadena-Deer Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge Sauk Centre at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
