After losing to Volcano Vista the last time they met, Cibola decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hawks 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Gabrielle Moncada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Cibola's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Presley Peek-Ruscetti, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Athena Joyce was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Cibola's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Volcano Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cibola will challenge Cleveland at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Storm will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Volcano Vista, they will take on Piedra Vista at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
