Baseball Game Preview: Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats vs. DuQuoin Indians

The Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats will take on the DuQuoin Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Anna-Jonesboro is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Lucas Salazar made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Anna-Jonesboro is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Salazar was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Noah Chotner was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Luke Vaughn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, DuQuoin came up short against Waterloo on Wednesday and fell 7-2.

Tilden Henderson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Anna-Jonesboro pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for DuQuoin, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12.
