Football Recap: Danville Vikings vs. Bloomington Purple Raiders
Danville couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Bloomington Purple Raiders 41-14 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 31-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Rob Lanier was a one-man wrecking crew for Bloomington as he rushed for 70 yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 61 receiving yards and a touchdown. Lanier got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of61 yards.
Danville is headed away from home for the first time to take on Urbana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomington, they will welcome Normal University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
