The Chippewa Chipps will head out on the road to challenge the Northwestern Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northwestern took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Chippewa, who comes in off a win.
Chippewa is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since August 23rd on Tuesday. They skirted past Hillsdale 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chipps.
Chippewa wouldn't go down easily and took Hillsdale into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 17-25, 22-25, 25-15, 15-7.
Chippewa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aira Regan out in front who had 14 digs.
Chippewa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They came up short against Rittman, falling 3-0.
Northwestern was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 21 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.
Chippewa's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Northwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.
Chippewa was able to grind out a solid win over Northwestern when the teams last played back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chipps since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
