Recap: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Orem Tigers

The Spanish Fork Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-47 walloping at the hands of Orem. While losing is never fun, Spanish Fork can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Orem is ranked 15th).

When it comes to explaining why Spanish Fork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Dunn. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Dunn posted two or more blocks. Ethan Beckstead was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Chance Dastrup continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Orem, shooting 5-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 assists. Dastrup has been hot recently, having posted eight or more assists the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Robinson, who scored 15 points.

Spanish Fork has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Orem, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish Fork will take on Maple Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Maple Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Orem, they will head out on the road to face off against Salem Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Salem Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
