Basketball Recap: Homer-Center's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Homer-Center played in conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the River Valley Panthers, sneaking past 55-53. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 53-41 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Despite the loss, River Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Max Persichetti went 9 for 15 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Persichetti's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Reed, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Homer-Center's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for River Valley, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.

Homer-Center will be taking part in a tournament against Meyersdale at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. Homer-Center is facing Meyersdale at the right time seeing as Meyersdale is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for River Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-58 loss against Penns Manor on the 19th.
