Preview: Gulf Buccaneers vs. IMG Academy Silver Ascenders
The Gulf Buccaneers will look to defend their home court on Monday against the IMG Academy Silver Ascenders at 7:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gulf has three straight wins, IMG Academy Silver has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Gulf posted their biggest win since December 19, 2023 on Wednesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 67-28 victory over Anclote.
Gulf's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaydn Wood, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Domenech, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, IMG Academy Silver pushed their score all the way to 94 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Immokalee by a score of 96-94.
Gulf's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-12. As for IMG Academy Silver, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
