Softball Recap: Justin-Siena Takes a Loss

Justin-Siena had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Napa Grizzlies, falling 9-3. The Braves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Grizzlies earlier this season, when they won 14-4.

Caiden Grimmer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Tinsley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

As for Napa, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-13. The win was a breath of fresh air for they as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

On Napa's side, Brooklyn Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off 13 hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Miller a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mattea Buhman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Lauren Nicklas also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Justin-Siena will welcome Casa Grande at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gauchos will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Napa, they will be playing at home against American Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
