Baseball Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

St. Michael the Archangel had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the University Academy Charter Gryphons 18-4. That's two games straight that the Guardians have won by exactly 14 runs.

Gage Burgess looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Carson Hass was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Suddarth, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

St. Michael the Archangel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.

St. Michael the Archangel pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for University Academy Charter, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
