Softball Game Preview: Sumter Gamecocks vs. Latta Vikings

The Sumter Gamecocks will head out to face off against the Latta Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The last five games Sumter has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Sumter played against Ridge View on Thursday and won via forfeit.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Latta and Hannah-Pamplico, and Latta kept the tradition alive. The Vikings put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 17-5 win on Friday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Sumter's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Latta, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Sumter beat Latta 4-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Gamecocks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
