MANUEL MORENO leads Sunnyside to victory over Ironwood Ridge

The Sunnyside Blue Devils's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They managed a 78-72 win over Ironwood Ridge. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

MANUEL MORENO was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Isaac Moreno Leyva was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 assists.

When it comes to explaining why Ironwood Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyler Holthaus. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was David Baba, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Sunnyside's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Ironwood Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunnyside the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Rincon/University is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Ironwood Ridge, they will be playing at home against Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cholla's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
